  • The Chwat Group’s arranged for a luncheon visit by the Ranking Minority Member of the US House Education and the Workforce Committee, Rep.Bobby Scott(D-VA) with representatives of the 24 Virginia Honors Programs of the firm’s client, the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC). The Congressman met with and discussed higher education policy and legislation at the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. John Chwat arranged the visit, briefed the Member and staff and coordinated the event for the NCHC.
  • John Chwat, in December,2016, lead a webinar for Association Trends, Columbia Books, about government relations under the Trump Administration and 115th Congress, called, “ A Look AT the Future.” Mr. Chwat reviewed 2017  legislative priorities and the new players in the Administration, House and Senate, and added his perspective on experience in 12 transitions over the years.
  • John Chwat traveled to Boulder, Colorado in mid-October, 2016 as a panelist for the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR), representing hundreds of college and university weather, atmospheric departments around the country. The topic was, “Communicating as an Expert with Policy Makers.”  The over hundred attendees received detailed information on impacting appropriations and authorization staffs in Congress and how best to influence elected officials in the Fiscal Year 2017-2018 process.
  • As President of the American Friends of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust (AFSBT), providing scholarship and support to the education and historic preservation of William Shakespeare’s birthplace, John Chwat is working with Notre Dame Yale  as recipients of his group’s annual “Sir Stanley Wells Scholarship,” for a graduate student summer study in Stratford-upon-Avon, UK. Sir Wells is the world’s leading expert on Shakespeare and past Chairman of the Trust.
  • The Firm assisted the Asset Leadership Network(ALN) in their “Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill,” arranging for very detailed face-to-face meetings with senior staff regarding General Services Administration(GSA) and federal government management issues. The ALN held its Annual “Federal Leadership in Asset Management Policy Forum at the National Academy of Sciences and included over 100 attendees and speakers and sponsorship from groups like Booze Allen Hamilton, Deloitte, Sodexo and others.
